These past 3 months have been nothing short of exhaustingly crazy busy and hectic. I’ve been remiss in posting and blogging. My last entry was in mid-November about Centrum and the last time I shared my last food / restaurant discovery was in October. It’s not like I have stopped eating. In fact, I can’t let being busy get in the way of sharing my recent fondness of a pizza parlor in QC.

Pizza has been my favorite comfort food since I was a kid. From being taught shapes in kindergarten or pie charts in geometry class, anything circular makes me fantasize about a round cheesy pizza. There is no saying no to pizza. But the best way to enjoy it is to be able to share that comfort with people close to you like dear friends. Isis, EJ, Shar, Lia and I tried a new restaurant and set out for Mad for Pizza one Saturday brunch.

The restaurant is located at the Il Terrazzo plaza in the Tomas Morato area. Cyril Reyes and partners birthed the concept for Mad for Pizza and officially opened its doors in June 2014. The interiors are bright, airy and spacious. It feels modern with elements of a retro pizza diner, especially their cool throwback music reminiscent of the Awesome Mixed Tape of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Mad for Pizza allows your flavor creativity to stand out since the restaurant concept allows you to customize your own pizza… from dough to sauce to topping.
Step 1: Choose Your Dough
Classic Dough | Herb Dough | Garlic Parmesan Dough | Spinach Dough
Step 2: Choose Your Sauce
House Pizza Sauce
Roasted Garlic Alfredo
Diablo (Spicy Tomato Cream Sauce)
BBQ Sauce
Step 3: Choose All the Toppings You Want

The wait staff will hand you a slip of paper where you can tick off your choices or you can head over to the counter and check out the fresh dough, sauces and ingredients for yourself and decide which of the 40 toppings to get. Among the toppings are selections of vegetables like olives, mushrooms, spinach, artichokes, bell peppers, meats like steak, chicken, shrimp or Italian sausages and several variants of cheese. They likely have everything you ever wanted in a pizza tailored to fit your taste and texture preference.

Mad for Pizza’s Pizza with the Customize or All-You-Can-Toppings will set you back for only Php 280 per pizza. Their ready to order set pizza flavors go for only P250.
The mouthwatering pizzas were baked delicious, hot cheese wafting across the room and with a nicely toasted crust just the way I requested it.
On the Table
Rock and Roll Nachos P188
While waiting for our pizzas, we checked out the other items on the menu. The hungry crowd must be fed so we ordered a number of appetizers and some pasta and a main dish. Happy points for Mad for Pizza since their price points are extremely affordable with most under P200. WE could eat and order to our heart’s content and it still won’t break the bank.
–
House Salad P158
Light and refreshing, good starter to balance the other diner items slash comfort food
Buffalo Wings (half kilo) P268
One of my favorites on the table and the other folks share the joy as we completely devoured the lightly spiced Buffalo wings to the bone.
–
Fried Calamari P188
I’m not a big fan of calamari since most restaurants in Manila tend to overcook it or overbatter but Mad for Pizza’s version is inclined to satisfy. Theirs are tender thin squid rings, soft and chewy, with crumbly light batter that’s great to dip in their marinara sauce. I know Shar didn’t let this out of his sight.
–
Spaghetti Bolognese P188
Fried Mac and Cheese P168
Have you ever tried your favorite Mac and Cheese fried?
–
Chicken Crispers
–
Tennessee Pork Ribs P268
Mad for Pizza’s Tennessee Pork Ribs was also popular on the table with its dark smoky flavor. Bite into a pleasant BBQ-sweetness yet appetizingly smoky savory.

Don’t forget desserts!

We had a fantastic time dining at Mad for Pizza and couldn’t wait to go back. I should bring different groups of friends here soon, maybe for a pre-Christmas dinner or gatherings. Great food, ambience, and awesome value for money.

Now, I can’t stop thinking about their hot cheesy pizza with a toasty crust and toppings I could mix for my own pleasure and food mood. I am crazy for pizza. I am Mad for Pizza.
